Starting and stopping the broadcast

How to start and stop a broadcast in the admin panel, what the statuses mean and how not to forget to end it

Broadcast controls are on the broadcast page in the admin panel. There are two buttons: “Start” and “Stop”. Interpreters and listeners cannot join the broadcast until you start it.

Broadcast statuses

A colored dot in the header shows the current state:

  • Waiting (yellow dot): the broadcast is created but not started yet. Interpreters and listeners see a “Please wait” message
  • On air (green dot): the broadcast is live. Listeners hear the interpretation, interpreters are in the booth
  • Paused (yellow dot): a temporary pause
  • Ended (gray dot): the broadcast is over

Starting

Click “Start”. The broadcast switches to “On air”, and the button changes to a red “Stop”. Listeners can now join via the link or QR code, and interpreters see an active booth.

Before starting, we recommend:

  1. Making sure interpreters are assigned to the right language pairs
  2. Sending the team link (the “Team” button in the header) to interpreters and the speaker
  3. Sending the viewer link (the “Viewers” button) or showing the QR code

Stopping

Click “Stop”. The broadcast ends and all participants get a notification. A stopped broadcast can be started again: just click “Start” once more.

Important. A broadcast left on keeps running until you stop it. Check the status after the event ends.

Recording

Recording is controlled separately from the broadcast. Go to the “Recording” tab on the broadcast page and click “Start recording”. You can stop it at any time without ending the broadcast.

Troubleshooting

Listeners see “Please wait”. The broadcast has not started yet or has already ended. Check the status and click “Start” if the broadcast should be live.

The “Start” button is unavailable. Make sure you are signed in as an administrator or moderator. Interpreters and speakers cannot control the broadcast.

Could not stop the broadcast. Reload the page and try again. If the error persists, contact support.
