Interpreter sign-in and workspace

How an interpreter gets into the booth, what the controls mean and what to do if the connection drops

Interpreters sign in with an email and password. The account is created by the event administrator: self-registration on the platform is disabled.

Workspace

Once connected, you see four groups of controls at the bottom of the screen:

  • Listening to. Choose the sound source: “Floor” (the speaker) or the name of the relay language (for relay interpretation). Shortcut: Shift
  • Microphone. The “Start interpreting” button puts you on air, “Stop interpreting” takes you off. While the button is blue, listeners cannot hear you. Shortcut: Space
  • My sound. The “Mute” button temporarily mutes the microphone while you hold it. Available only while on air. Shortcut: M (hold)
  • Interpreting into. The output channel where listeners hear your interpretation. Switching channels works without reconnecting and causes no pause for listeners. Shortcut: ← / →

Relay interpretation

If there is no direct language pair, a relay through a pivot language is used: one interpreter works from the original into the relay language, the second listens to them and interprets further. In the “Listening to” field, select the relay language instead of “Floor”.

If the connection drops

When the connection drops, the platform shows the connection status and offers to reconnect. Click “Reconnect”: the booth restores the connection without losing your assignments. If that does not help, reload the page and sign in again. Your partner can take over the broadcast in the meantime.
